This will be our 4th year doing our joint college reunion/fantasy football live draft and cabin retreat. It's a blast every year, but we still make tweaks to how we do food and I just can't figure out the easiest way.
Some people in the group still think a Google doc with individual sign ups is best. But what about people flying in or driving 8 hours? When are they gonna pick up "bagels and cream cheese?" I don't have a cooler at the moment so even my 3 and a 1/2 hour drive means shelf stable items only, can't keep anything cold.
Then there's the opinion that once we're up there, we drive into town to the closest grocery store and make one trip, with everyone paying equal parts Venmo/PayPal/etc. BUT to throw a wrench into that, certain people don't consume certain things. We have folks that don't eat junk food like potato chips, and others that love to indulge. We have people that don't eat breakfast at all. I really don't give a shit either way, but in past years people have raised concerns about "buying food they aren't going to consume."
Are we over thinking it? Is this inevitable with the amount of people we're bringing? Is this even the right place to post a question like this?
Some of you are chefs that regularly plan and cook for large groups, so I thought there may be some advice here.
