I know this might seem like a weird question but, whenever I saw TV chef or cooks in general grabbing salt from the container to season do they wash their hand beforehand? I always loved the idea of being able to pick the salt up with my hand instead of using a salt mill however, I am afraid that if I handled meat (e.g taking steaks out from the packet) and grabbed the salt to season straight away with my hand it would cause some hygiene issue. So my question is, does cross contamination happen in this case, does it causes the entire salt in the container to be contaminated if I do this? Does the salt picks up weird smells (e.g when Iām chopping garlic and cooking pasta and I wanted to season with salt straight away) because the reason Iām always sticking with salt mill is due to the convenience that I wont have to touch the salt directly. Iām having a bit of difficulty getting my point across but I hope you guys understand. Thanks :)
