Typically my girlfriend will come up with a groundwork idea for our weekend meal, and I will put it together in a cohesive dish. My initial offering for this week's idea was: "What if I put Pad Thai on a burger and did some herb/chili/lime fries?" She LOVED the idea so here's what I'm thinking for the real product:
Peanut Sauce/spread for burger-
Peanut butter (crunchy better?)
Chili Paste (Probably just a squirt of Sriracha)
Fish sauce to taste for authenticity
This will be dolloped on top of the burger when it's hot to get it melted down a bit. Then I want to top it with fresh basil and bean sprouts. My questions for you:
Should I do anything special to the burger itself, or will a standard beef patty be okay? (It does need to stay inherently "American" in that aspect, as per her request)
Do I need a second sauce/condiment for the burger, like something mayo-based?
Ideas for a dipping sauce/topping for the fries? I'll probably chop up basil, cilantro and dried chilis and toss fresh fries in that with lime salt.
