Cut watermelon absorbed onion flavors from wooden cutting board: how to fix?

I can’t find anything on the internet related to my question. I know how to clean the cutting board now. But I don’t know how to save the already cut watermelon. I was thinking of soaking it in club soda and draining it. Maybe that would take the odd savory flavors out? I just don’t want to waste my fruit. Thanks
