do i need to let my char siu marinate for 8-12 hours?

i was a dumb idiot and didnt check the recipe properly and i'm supposed to be making char siu baozi tonight, but i didn't marinade ahead of time. would a marinade time of ~6 hours still be good, given it's gonna all be chopped up in a baozi with extra sauce anyways? or should i bite the bullet and just make classic ground pork baozi?
