How do I make a cake that serves 30? Can I make it a dragon?

I would like to bake the cake for my youngest daughter's baby shower. The expectant couple are going with a "purple baby dragon" shower theme. Little baby dragons are adorable (I didn't realize this until I searched Etsy), and I'd like to make a cake that looks like a baby dragon. I don't know how to do this, nor am I sure how to make a cake that will serve 30 people. I have baked cakes, frosted cakes, and done simple decorating on cakes, but this seems much harder.

If a dragon is not possible at my skill level, can you tell me how to bake a cake that serves 30?
