I approached an older woman in a gym class and introduced myself. We are both females. I talked to her and it didn't seem like she wanted to talked to me. I thought that I was gracing her with my presence. I asked her how she was and she did not ask me how I was. I asked her for her name and she did not ask me for my name. Nor did she say that it was nice to meet me. She said, "Are you leaving? Or why are you?" I told her that I had not seen her for a few days, and I meant I was asking her where she was the other days, when I don't even know her. Then when she finally relented, I walked away without responding.
What did she mean by "Are you leaving? Or why are you?" I thought that I was gracing her with my presence. Did she think that she was graced by my presence? Does she owe me anything?
