It was hard to believe but it's made staying with them for the next month that much better. They've never voted democrat since they became citizens, and voted for Trump the last election, but finally...FINALLY...it finally switched. They're both very successful doctors who were two issue voters: taxes and muslims. But this time it was a matter of the white supremacy surprisingly enough. This was actually the issue I didn't think they would pick up on given it was never as big of an issue to them in the past, or they just didnt understand it or care. But I actually couldn't believe it was what drove them over to the other side. I think a bigger influence was another cousin of my mother's who's been incredibly successful in silicon valley who is finally switching sides and voting for Biden. He's voted republican his entire life. He was a single issue voter as well but it finally clicked for them to make the switch.
So there's hope. And if someone like my uncle who's as successful as he is and who lives in the part of the bay area that tends to either be purple or red for those in the upper upper echelons of success, then I'm having a lot of hope for November. This means there's hope for your folks too.
It's also worth noting that as we were driving south from Chicago to Miami, we saw a lot more Biden Harris signs than Trump signs.
