Post Body

Do you feel like people from the community - (Desi's especially) can get very nosy? are toxic people? especially when they could not get something they were looking for? They want to know everything about you?

How do you stay social - like going to religious events? gatherings for the Desi community? talk to others? answer about your work? wealth? school? if you do go to such events?

What are your strategies - we all need to be a bit social? How does one do that?

Pls all do share your opinions. So confused here and in a dilemma....

This or give them really stupid answers but pretend you are joking.

For example don't you know I'm quitting my $130K job in IT to become a circus tight rope walker. Or something really silly. And keep giving stupid answers or ask them lots of questions especially advice on cooking or life in the old days in India. Aunties and uncles will talk on and on.

Then excuse yourself to the washroom and find another person.

But if you're sitting at an assigned table at a wedding or cannot leave then if the attention comes to you say "My life is very boring. Nothing like yours. What were you saying about?"

Make them talk and ask them opinions on everything.
