Post Body

Hi all. I was wondering about that. When I was a kid, I remember hearing the news that Nina Davuluri won Miss America. I saw an article that asked, "Was Nina too dark to win in Miss India?" I didn't understand that article title as an innocent kid, but I understand it now. It is something like India is very colorist and biased against dark skin. That is why Miss India winners are very fair and white compared to the average Indian. So, Nina would have likely never won Miss India if she had been born in India.

So, are developed nations like America less colorist and less biased against dark skin than India and other developing nations? Is it something like both places are terrible for people with dark skin, but India is even worse?

Comments

If you're trying to make it as an Indian performer, model, entertainer, actress, TV reporter especially as a female with dark skin, you have a better chance in the US compared to India.

It's complicated. Racism is still there. White women dominate this area.
