It makes me so mad. my parents could live longer, healthier, happier lives but use fake excuses like time and "it's not that bad" as they struggle to go up just one staircase, have high blood pressure, diabetes, migraines, chronic back pain, and other things that are preventable or could've drastically improved. they barely drink water, never exercise, have doodh cha daily, too much rice for lunch & dinner, etc. the cherry on top is "God decides our death and things like exercise won't make a difference." (of course that God statement is out the window once a Bengali doctor says "go exercise it will change your life".)

It's generational. Who needs science and preventative care when traditional ideas are there? My mother thinks having slightly wet hair and sleeping with it gives you a cold. Not at all. It diffuses my hair and I have perfect waves the next day lol.

My parents don't do their annual screenings even though it's covered by insurance. Preventative care is a foreign concept to the boomer generation.
