Hello there,
Appreciate whoever is reading this and taking the time to give advice, I've lurked this sub for a long time and read a lot but I can't seem to find a solid answer on my current question.
I'm running the beginner template of this sub and have been running it since roughly March/April of 2022. Since the accessories/assistance work sets are pick and choose I've just kind of chosen some things but I've never really delved deep into what a good combination would look like.
So here's my current setup:
For day 1 of the template I do: - 3x15 Incline Dumbbell Bench Press - 3x15 Triceps Push Down - 3x7 Chin ups
For day 2 of the template I do: - 3x15 Leg Curl - 3x15 Leg Extension (superset with leg curls) - 3x20 Ankle Raises - 3x7 Pull ups
For day 3 of the template I do: - 3x15 Cable Rows - 3x15 Dumbbell Curls - 3x7 Dips
The thought behind the above is that I've grouped some things that I want to get done together such as extra leg stuff on day 2 since there's no squats on day 2 and then just stuff that adds onto the exercises I'm already doing on the other days to make use of some pre-exhaustion of certain muscles like my biceps, triceps and chest.
My main question is whether or not this makes any sense or if I should spread it all out in order to get a full body regime every day or does it make sense to "specialize" the assistance work based upon the main lifts that I do. Right now I'm kind of doing a half-assed approach it feels like that lacks focus or direction and my main lifts are starting to get heavy to a point where I think I need my assistance work to be on point to help me progress.
Any critique or just pointers on the above would be appreciated greatly.
Some stats that might help give you an idea of where I'm at:
- 5'10
- 155lbs
- Squat max = 215x6 (don't know my 1RM)
- Bench max = 155x1
- OHP max = 110x1
- DL max = 230x4 (don't know my 1RM)
