How to fix or replace broken ribbon cable
Post Body

Hello

As the title says, I am looking for a way to fix my Spectrums keyboard, One of the ribbon cables is halfway ripped and the other one looks a little strained in the bend but seems otherwise ok.

Can I get a replacement for these parts or maybe even a way to fix the busted cable?
any help is much apriciated!

I had no idea that remooving the face plate was souch an ordeal. I checked out a video on it and it seems pretty sketchy. The hair dryer is a great idea, will defenatly try that. I have some tools to remoove phone screens maybe I can use them to pry it off without (much) damage. Thanks for warning me about IPA, will put some masking tape on the front of the plate. I also have some Googone maybe that will be more gentle in remooving the glue but I will still make sure to protect the front side.

whoa, I didnt know it was the end of the whole membrane. I guess its best if I replace it. I tried scraping the plastic off the broken ends to reconnect them but its not working the plastic is to rigid.
Thanks for the advice!

So I got the replacement membrane today. I managed to take the old one out without damaging the faceplate at all. It seems taht there was only glue next to the 4 brackets so it came off relatively easy. It all works now and I cant wait to try some games. Thanks again for all the help! I might post some pictures of my whole setup later :)
