I cannot get custom firmware I created using the Zoom Firmware Editor to flash onto my MS-50G.
My MS-50G was flashed to the 3.10 firmware some time ago. At that time I used the Zoom Effects Manager for the MS-50G to add some of optional effects available, and remove others.
A coupe days back, I started creating a custom effect list using the user created Custom Firmware Tool. I have created a custom firmware removing most of the drives and amps from the MS-50G. I've added effects from both the MS-70CDR and MS-60B. I am using effects from the latest update for those pedals.
I can create and save the firmware as the required .EXE file. I restart my MS-50G in firmware mode. I can run that .EXE file and it appears goes through the process of writing the firmware. The pedal shows its accepting the update. But on restart of the MS-50G, the setup is still the same as before I started. All of the effects, and even the patch settings I've created, all remain the same after running the update.
I tried reflashing it using an unaltered firmware update downloaded directly from Zoom website. But the results are the same -- no change to the current setup of the MS-50G.
I am running Windows 10. I have tried running the flash update program (official and modified) as administrator. I've tried different USB cables in case that was the issue, but the software appears to find the MS-50G regardless of the cable.
Not sure what the problem is. But I'd like to find out.
EDIT: Helpful user suggested trying the official MS-50G Effects manager again. That seemed to have woke the pedal up somehow and from there I was able to downgrade firmware to 2.10, then upgrade firmware back to 3.10, and finally use the Zoom Effect Manager 1.1.1 to write the wanted effects to the pedal.
