So recently, I made a playlist on YouTube to conquer a childhood trauma and that was Charlie Brooker’s Dead Set miniseries. I remember watching it back in 2009 and it scared the living daylights out of me (I was only 8 at the time).
Anyhow, I made the playlist called Dead Set and watched it. It was not as scary as I now found it to be be and it instantly became my favourite zombie series of all time (only comprising 5 episodes mind you) but it was far better than the Walking Dead and it also has a 28 Days/Weeks Later feel to it.
It is one of the greatest feats in zombie horror that have happened in a post-Romero world and Charlie Brooker is a satirical writer who writes on human emotion and apathy in conjunction with other themes.
Dead Set is the Goldilocks of zombie horror - check it out, you don’t know what you’re missing out!
