Hi everyone--
I work in a public library and recently authored a grant to create a zine library in the teen section that would be 100% created and facilitated by our teen patrons. I'll be working with a team of teen volunteers to develop the workshop plans, etc but I have a small request for those of you interested in supporting this project:
- If you have a small-ish zine that is age-appropriate that you're willing to donate as an example for my teen volunteers, please message me. I have my own collection, but not all of them are suitable for all audiences and with the current heat libraries have been getting from the right, I'd rather not stoke any animosity;
- If anyone has ever run a zine workshop, what are some things you usually include in your workshops? My volunteers will be creating most of the curriculum, but I'd like to have some guidance in case I end up with a room full of teenagers staring at each other, unsure of what to plan.
Any help/input you have will be greatly appreciated! Each workshop will create a community zine that will be professionally printed at UCLA and be included in our collection as well as the collection at UCLA. I'm excited; I want my teens to get excited!
