So In twilight princess, in hyrule castle. In one of the courtyards/graveyards, we can find a grave/tombstone that reads “the cursed swordsman sleeps beneath the sacred tree”.

In the game, we can find the hero of time’s shade and he will teach of some sword techniques. He will also mention that he is full of regret. But my theory is that the cursed swordsman IS the hero of time.

Now I can sum this up on a number of things; the guy could time travel, never got to experience full childhood and lost his innocence way too early. This could also affect his interaction with others.

We know the hero of time must have died in combat because of his Attire. He has a huge decorative helmet, quiet possibly representing his rank among the soldiers. And now we have the ghosts pointing at what must be the grave. They are pointing at it with what I think is with anger. Maybe the hero of time had regrets for: letting his fellow soldiers die, having his own life cut short and not seeing his family again.

maybe he is just described as “the cursed swordsman” because his heroic deed of fighting ganondorf was forgotten and and he failed to protect his fellow knights with a mix of the traumatic effects from his lost childhood.

Not sure where this fits into majoras mask and maybe the hero of time was just buried in his armour but the vines on his armour suggest he was killed in combat and left until his body was eventually collected from the field . The vines could also be from the tree. This also clashes with the “hero of time is dead in majoras mask” theory.
