By reluctant I mainly acually about dueling. Like. Maybe the protag has no interest in the card game but due to plot stuff they have to. Obviously along the way they slowly grow to enjoy and even love dueling. Just so much of yugioh is predicated on "MC loves dueling, dueling is so important, this is their entire life". Could be interesting to have an MC who starts less invested and grows attached. Also could call out the tendency of yugioh characters to take dueling so seriously. Maybe have them duel for something, loose, then take it anyway because honestly who cares about honoring the duel, X is too important.
