Yu-Gi-Oh! is an ever growing game thanks to continuous new series adding new mechanics for us to explore. Many of us got started on the original series (be it manga or anime), and eventually transitioned into playing the game at home. While the game is quite fun to play, there's been a subject that's somewhat bothered me for many years that I'm bringing up today, and that's the subject of running multiple copies of monsters (and to a lesser extent, spells and traps). Quite frequently, decks are seen with multiple copies of a specific card if it's not limited. This is doubly true in decks meant to be competitive for tournaments. I have no issues in the viability of this strategy in the game, but am I the only one who feels that's a little...boring? There are countless amazing cards out there, with a fair few archetypes having more than enough good cards that one could make a perfectly functional deck with only having duplicates of, say, Polymerization if your deck was particularly fusion-dependent. It almost feels like a waste then to run a deck where almost half your total card count is between 5-7 monsters. When I played Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist on my PS4, I ended up building myself a HERO deck with very few duplicate cards to face the Challenge Duels, and it was a lot of fun having 15 unique Extra Deck HERO Monsters to deal with foes in unique ways. I'm really curious if any one else has ever felt this way. If you've just felt like you wanted more uniqueness in your deck. Rather than three of the same XYZ Monster, you wanted three different ones for both the situation and your mood (plenty of Rank 4 XYZ Monsters out there). Something like that. Diversity can be the spice of one's deck, if the duelist is willing.
