It's absurd to me that YTTV still isn't on the Amazon app store. It makes zero sense for anyone involved, because it just presents a hassle for YTTV subscribers with Fire tablets and it deprives YTTV of free advertising and exposure to the vast majority of Fire tablet users.
Yes, I know you can sideload the play store and install YTTV that way, but most Fire tablet users aren't going to be sideloading things, and for those that do, it's a needless hassle and comes with the headache of your local channels getting locked because the app can't determine your location. Besides, the fact that it can be sideloaded only makes the situation more puzzling.
In the past, the justification has been that there were issues with device performance, but every current Fire tablet can handle YTTV perfectly fine, even the Fire 7 tablet with 1GB of RAM. I know, because my aunt has a Fire 7 and I installed YTTV on the tablet and have seen it working fine. So why not limit the app's availability to those tablets and publish it on the Amazon app store. Literally the only thing that would need to be changed is the reliance on Google location services, and by allowing the app to use Amazon's location services instead it would improve the user experience and allow the app to truly shine on the most ubiquitous line of Android tablets.
