Notifications Not Display in Overlays

Newish to streaming, and very green to streaming on YouTube. I’ve noticed that whenever someone interacts with the channel, namely subscribing for now, it doesn’t trigger the overlay notifications. I only know someone subscribed because I’ll see it in the chat history. Can anyone help me figure out why that’s happening?
I’m using OBS with the StreamElements plug-in if it helps.
Also, at what point am I able to have viewers do SuperChats or tip the stream?
