[yt-dlp] Downloading a live with auto subs stops the process after the subs segments are finished
Post Body

Hello!

Yesterday I was trying to download a live stream (that gets privated after airing) along with the pre-loaded subtitles it comes with. I thought they'd be downloaded with --write-subs at first, cause they aren't technically auto-generated, but I quickly discovered that --write-auto-subs was the correct one.

Anyways, usually for audio video, it says the segment count is unknown and keeps fetching them until the stream is over. But in this case, it fetched the current segment count for subs and considered the job done once it downloaded them, so it just stopped and converted that portion of the stream into mp4 and srt. This is the output - sorry, I didn't think at the time to get more detailed logs.

As a workaround, I executed the audio video and subs commands in separate instances, I kept the downloaded subs segments and repeated the command every few minutes, so it could skip the already downloaded segments and just fetch the new ones.

I'm not sure if I made a mistake or there's a difference in how downloading live subs vs live video is treated. I tried googling but maybe I didn't use the right keywords, cause I couldn't find similar reports. I'd appreciate any advice on the matter - is it possible to have it continuously refresh the auto subs segments, like for the A/V stream? Or if not, is there a smarter way than my workaround?

Thank you!
