Here's an example (image). <- I clicked "like" on this particular video a couple of days ago, but the video still displays as if nobody has rated the video at all. Which isn’t the case as you can see in the image.
This happened a year or so ago too when I used to like/dislike every video after I had watched it as an indication to whether or not I had seen the video if I ever stumbled upon the video again in the future. So after a while I noticed that when I disliked a video, it wouldn’t add to the counter, which means that the rating-system was basically pointless for my account. A few months later it started working again, because I had completely stopped rating videos (besides from liking certain ones, because that still worked). So I had this in mind while watching videos, I didn’t want to overuse this function from now on.
So recently I haven’t rated videos unless I thought they deserved it, but the problem is now appearing again in the forms of even the like-button being broken. Even though I haven’t abused the system in any way, so this is really strange.
As a side note before finishing this: A way to easily check if your rating adds to the Youtube-counter is to rate an unpopular video and quickly reopen the link in an incognito page. This method can also be useful on Reddit whenever you want to see whether or not your posts/comments has been posted for the public to see.
Does anyone know the reason for this occurrence, and if I can do anything to resolve this problem? Has anybody else noticed this themselves? Are there any ways to prevent this apart from not engaging with this video-sharing site at all?
Thanks in advance.
Sincerely,
Serene
