Hey lovely people that know far more than I do,
I licensed one of my videos with Jukin Media for an 80/20 revenue share. The video ended up going viral. They brought it into their revenue stream, meaning I get to see nothing from Youtube. I reasoned that they probably would get a better CPM than I would, and 20% wasn't going to be that much money anyways.
Over 1.7 million views later, I have made less than $100. When asked if this was correct, they basically told me CPM on such a short video could be less than .01. That's about the number I am getting.
Searching the web, it seems like they are an order of magnitude off, but it seems like there is nothing I can do, because I just have to trust them.
Could the number they are paying me be correct? Should I just chalk this up to a learning experience and lesson learned?
