Ambient Mode stuck on Forever?

I can't tell if this is a feature or a bug, but for some reason Ambient Mode is permanently on and the option to toggle is just gone. I tried to look on the help page about it but everywhere I go everyone says "Yeah just hit the turn off button", but the button isn't there! Is this true for anyone else on mobile?
