Do the pomcast fans really find Bert's show 'The Cabin' anything but cringe?
Post Body

After reading numerous comments on the most recent episode of ymh about how funny the Tom episode of Bert's show was, I had to try it out. I completely regret it.

Sure, I laughed at tom and Joey's schtick but...

My. Fucking. God. From the fake FaceTime calls, the most narcissistic show intro possible, to the forced out of character lines each guest obviously recited.... it was the ultimate cringe imo. I love cringe usually, but its like this hit home. Clearly every single comedian on the show other than Bobby Lee doesn't even have the ability to do a script read. Funny considering he's treated as the least talented when this show clearly showed why they are stand up comics and not actors and he is be both.

It reminds me of how tom spoke about working on his recent Judd film and how much Judd loved his comedy and his persona and thought it was perfect for the character he had written, but when it came to doing the read it wasn't working... it's so fucking unnatural, they all are. Joey obviously has chops and has proven it with other gigs, but some of his campfire lines here were obviously written without consideration of his cadence or how he would talk.

So I have a question... why act like it was a reality show but emphasize the fact its scripted, and atrosciously scripted at that? I can understand how it can be read on paper as an entertaining premise for a show, but I can't understand why this was seriously produced and promoted by Netflix when it feels like a show that was created and written by a 12 year old Bert's perception of his adult self?

Am I just missing something or my jeans are just too low and loose? I feel like I'm out of the loop, werent modern comedians the ones who showed this format was outdated?
