Pain to top and sides of feet
Post Body

Hi,
I'm a complete beginner who is trying to get into yoga as a way to relax and also to stretch my body after abusing it in the weight room (or my living room lately, for obvious reasons). I have tried a couple beginner routines from youtube but always end up giving up because I cannot enjoy doing them due to the pain they cause to my feet. (I also have numbness in my legs from many of the positions, but it's more manageable).

Basically, every time a position demands I put weight on either the top or the sides of my feet (pretty much any angle that is not the cushionned sole of my foot) I get sharp pain on the contact point. Is this normal and I just have to go through it until it goes away on its own as my feet become less sensitive ? Should I just get a thicker yoga mat or stack two of them ?
