Novice question

Hello all, I'm new to yoga and trying to get the basics down, but I'm having a flexibility issue, of sorts.
I'm not sure what position it's called, it's not really one I'm using to work on flexibility, rather one I'm in in-between positions, but whenever I'm sitting upright, with my knees to my chest, I always get a cramping feeling in my right hip socket. Are there any excersises, or stretches, I could do to dismantle or alleviate this cramping?
