Finished Yakuza Kiwami! It was a great remake of the original Yakuza game; though I admit it had been so long since I played the original, I couldn't really tell what was old or new.
One thing that genuinely surprised me was how strong the Dragon Style became once I finished Komaki's training. The Heat actions flowed easily in combat. There were solid follow-throughs in rush combos. But most of all, the sheer stopping power of the Tiger Drop made Kiryu almost unbeatable by the end.
When it used to take me a lot of switching from Rush to Brawler styles to beat Majima, a few timely Tiger Drops and Heat actions were all I needed.
A lot of people argued that Tiger Drop was too OP. Valid point, coz Dragon Style was damn near useless without it. But I personally never felt guilty using it, because I felt like I earned it after all the hand cramping and getting my ass kicked around the colloseum. Getting the Tiger Drop felt like Kiryu returning as the Dragon of Dojima.
My one issue is that Dragon Style becomes useful a bit too late in the game. I was already mastering the other three styles. Then along comes the previously useless style that can suddenly one-hit KO enemies in the street. It was like my hands had to re-learn the movesets all over again.
What are your thoughts on Kiwami's Dragon Style, especially Tiger Drop?
