I fell for a possible phishing scam 2 weeks ago. Here's the update.
Post Body

Two weeks ago, I posted about how, in a sleepy stupor, I fell for a possible phishing scam and panicked.

There were a lot of confusing issues at hand. Some signs pointed to a scam, other signs pointed to . . . nothing? A legit thing? Ultimately, no one ever really figured anything out. Nothing seemed to come of it, and I eventually forgot about it.

Until today. In the original post, I mentioned the original email gave me the chance to request a download of all my old Yahoo Groups files. Yahoo (or whoever) would then email me when the download is ready. I got that (new) email today, and it's just as weird. It shows a customer service phone number, which I doubt is real. I don't even think Yahoo has a customer service number. The download link it gives me looks legit, though. It says to go to: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/getmydata. I'm too scared to click it, but apparently it's a secure server?

Since the screen shot is hard to read, here's what the email says:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Hello,

You recently requested a download of your Yahoo Groups data. Your download request has been completed. To download your data, go to this URL: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/getmydata .

If this wasn’t you, go to the above URL immediately to delete the download. For security, we also recommend that you go to account settings to change your password, and review your recovery phone number(s) and/or email address(es) to remove the ones that don’t belong to you.

Regards,

Yahoo Groups"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This whole thing just gets weirder and weirder!

Edit: I just typed "groups.yahoo.com" into my browser and pressed Enter. The URL address bar automatically changed it to "groups.yahoo.com/neo" which is eerily similar to the download link from the new email. Maybe there's still a chance I haven't shot myself in the foot.
