Hi Ladies!
(I apologize if you see this in another sub, I'm cross-posting to reach an overlapping audience.)
In my computer science department, we've been having an issue with a faculty member with a big name who frequently expresses some rather anti-feminist ideals.
Quick examples: he's interrupted female invited speakers to ask them patronizing questions and recently sidelined feminism by calling it "simply an ideology" in a reply-all email to the entire department.
We are lucky enough to have a responsive departmental administration, but in this case, all they've done is validate us and say "yes, but what should we do about it?" We haven't had a good response to this, and neither have they, so not much has been done.
So... that got me thinking... what kinds of things CAN be done to help from a position of power to actually make a difference?
Any ideas are appreciated! <3
