Looking to break a plateau with strength?
Post Body

Reddit, please help a girl out.

I've been stuck in a (body weight) plateau for the last two months, and despite my efforts to bust through, I've gotten nowhere. As an idea of my current routine, I run on the elliptical 4-5 days a week, go to yoga twice a week and swim when I can. I usually take in 1800ish calories. It's clear what I'm missing - strength.

I've fooled around with a few options for strength - machines, kettlebells, bodyweight, but in the end I was frustrated with the routine or felt like I was neglecting muscle groups. As I've been researching a few new programs (SL5x5, ICF, SS, NWOLFW, etc), I see that some have different goals. Of course I'd like a perfect ass, 6 pack abs and defined arms, but as someone who's got a bit of weight to lose first, I would say fat loss would be my primary goal, followed by gaining strength and then toning/definition.

My question is - is there a program that would lend itself to weight loss more so than others, or is building strength equal in all forms, and I just have to pick something? Thanks.

tl;dr want to breakthrough a plateau with a strength routine, is one better than the rest?
