Post Body
A few of the rules that made the original XFL different from the NFL then and now. Which ones would you keep in the new XFL?
- No coin toss. Runners would dash to the ball from the 35 to the 50 to determine first possession.
- Returning teams must run kicks out of the end zone unless the kick goes through the end zone. (this is barring the XFL abolishing kickoffs completely)
- The extra point is a pass or a run after a touchdown.
- Receivers only need one foot in bounds for a catch (college later adopted this rule)
- The College overtime system was used.
- The offensive back is allowed to be in motion toward the line of scrimmage before the ball is snapped.
- No fair catches are permitted, but the returning player is granted a 5-yard protection halo. The kicking team may not cross the line of scrimmage until the ball is punted, but at the same time, anytime the punt travels more than 25 yards, is considered a live ball and may be recovered by either team.
