Looking for a little advice

I’m not a gamer but I do enjoy playing when time allows. My brother-in-law is and may have contracted covid so I’m considering purchasing a used Xbox One so I could possibly help him pass the time if he is. I would expect to used the console a reasonable amount but don’t see any reason to buy a new system. Would a 1 TB console be worth the extra money and is there a particular model that would be more reliable?
