From the title. If ps5 and Xbox series x have this quick resume feature, would it render physical game ownership obsolete? I've been having the dilemma of choosing either between owning games physically or digitally but I cannot decide. And now with this new feature it only makes me wonder which is the best method. I have been purchasing xbox and pc games digitally due to game pass and cross pay with pc and physical for switch and ps4. Any help or comments for discussion?
Physical concerns: -discs breaking -loss of discs due to theft or natural disasters -inconvenience of swapping out other games -disc drive breaking down -games may be difficult to find as stores stop selling them
Physical benefits: -complete ownership -borrowing or lending -trading -if you lose your account with the saves, purchases. And library you can retain your physical games
Digital concerns: -account gets hacked or banned involuntarily, you lose everything -games could get delisted (wii eshop, transformers cybertron, pt, Scott pilgrim, last remnant) -only own the license of the game but not the entire media
Digital benefits: -if console is stolen you can retrieve and re-download all media -convenience of swapping discs -potential of quick resume -cross buy -pre load options from home
