My xbox one X was in the alpha ring and last thursday I started having issues. Usually when I pressed the guide button on my controller. Was playing Apex legends and it crashed when I pressed the guide button and wouldn't open the game back up or let me close it. I did a hard reset and got error E102 on startup.
I tried a factory reset, a factory reset removing everything and an offline update downloading OSU1 and none of those options work. It starts the update and then stops at 0% and goes back to error E101 00000504 8B050041.
I contacted support and as my xbox is out of warranty they say my only option now is to pay £180 to send it to be repaired.
Its a bit annoying to be honest. It seems like the issue was either caused by being in the alpha ring or it's an unrelated hardware failure (would guess hard drive). Its pretty annoying either way since it only lasted 16 months when it cost £450.
Is there anything else I can try before I stump up the money to get it repaired?
