Will Trial codes work for Deals of the Week?

I only have trial codes. I bought a few of them online, I don't think they are gold because it still tells me to get gold in the dashboard, but I can still play online games and join parties. I was wondering if these would work for Deals of the week? I really want Red Dead Redemption which is on sale for gold users only and I am unsure if this registers as gold? If not is there any way to get a free gold trial for just even an hour?
