The UKs CMA is out of touch. They think they are forward thinking "oh cloud gaming is the future. And that's what Microsoft wants." I am struggling to write this calmly. Let's start with the basics.
Most cloud gaming startups, even those backed by big players fail.
Most of the developing world isn't ready to have cloud gaming.
Being a cloud service it would be avaliable on most if not all devices.
Microsoft is struggling. The only thing they have over competition right now is XCloud.
Blocking something that may not even be possible to happen is fear mongering and biased.
Was Netflix blocked when it decided to cloud stream? Making tons of deals worth billions for exclusive content? What about any other streaming service.
Most people view cloud gaming as a gimmick.
Blocking future competition from starting is anti competitive.
I feel someone must have greased some pockets somewhere for this. I hope the deal continues to push forward. If it doesn't as Microsoft I would maliciously comply and simply remove myself from the UK but I know that's not how business works. What do you guys think is going to happen. We have two more months before penalties kick in.
