Wynonna and Willa S1 question

Spoilers if no one has watched S1.
I’m working on my second watch-thru of this lovely show. Currently on S1E12. I can’t remember if it’s ever addressed, but how is it possible to have both Wynnona and Willa as heirs with the ability to use Peacemaker?
If this holds true, should this have worked with any Earp siblings down the line? Would this then apply to their children so you’d have two branches with heirs?
