My great-grandfather (Marius Quiriault) served in the Canadian Expeditionary Force in WW1. Via the Canadian archive's own site, I was able to find his mustering-in document. However, I was only able to find his initial file - I was not able to find his full service record. The unit he mustered into (253rd Battalion) seems to have been just an administrative unit, and was disbanded as soon as he got to England
Via a bit of luck, I managed to find that he actually was featured briefly in a newspaper article in Quebec, and it mentions that he eventually went to the front as part of the 22nd Battalion of the 5th Brigade of the 2nd Canadian Infantry Division. However, I've been unable to find a digitized copy of his full service record - what units he served with, when he served with them, his war record, any decorations he earned, etc. Does anybody know if such a thing exists in Canadian records, and where it could be found?
