I recently completed the first draft of a book. I let it sit about a week and upon returning to it with a fresh mind, I realize much still needs to be done. Several chapters need reworking, to include at least one that needs to be scrapped and be redone completely. Additionally, several thematic elements need to be woven into the whole story. Thankfully, each chapter is like its own self-contained mini-story, so I think much can be salvaged from the whole first draft. However, I was wanting to pick your collective brain as to the best method to go about making the bigger changes that need to happen. Should I just edit it piecewise or should I literally take what I have as an idea sapling and start each chapter fresh from a blank slate? Or, perhaps there's something I'm not thinking of that could streamline this whole editing process? I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thank you in advance for helping me in my most important project to date!
