Would you recommend beta readers?

Hi there,
I recently finished the 2nd draft of my horror novel and was thinking about advertising for beta readers to review the 3rd draft when it is done.
I've been a beta reader for a writer before but they only wanted the first couple of chapters looked at.
Has anyone had their book reviewed by a beta reader before? Did they read the whole manuscript? Was there a timescale?
If you have any advice, I'd love to hear it.
