Writing for the Plot vs. Writing for the Message
Post Body

Recently I watched a video talking about mistakes that student filmmakers have with their films, the biggest one was the story not have an underlying message with it.

So my question is, do others find that an issue in their writing? Is it possible to create an engaging story with pre-determined message? Or do you find that sometimes the message comes out from writing the story itself?

Tl:dr Do you write stories with messages or morales in mind or let it up to the reader?
