Becoming more critical of books as you write more?
Post Body

I've noticed since I got heavily back into writing and working on my craft, I've become more critical of the books & stories I read. Has anyone else noticed this?

It's becoming tougher to "turn off" my writing/editing brain to just enjoy reading for pleasure.

It seems to happen most often with self-published books I grab from Amazon, but not exclusively. I find myself being less tolerant of overused tropes or bad grammar and just dropping the book. Not sure if I'm developing a more critical eye, or if it's just a matter of limited time & and the sheer number of books out there.
