The reason I'm asking is because I am writing two stories right now(albeit one only at 4000 words and the less adventurous one closer to 18000), and both of them are located in the same fantasy world at different points in a timeline. I want to finish all six(yes six) stories after one another without creating inconsistencies once I get to finally revising rough drafts. Do people generally have a hard time following a continuity with lore, or does it eventually come to the point where you have to find an excuse to tie stories together? I want to be able to have one or two tangible objects or events that play a majorly dynamic role in the universe, but I am so afraid of the context of one story limiting possibilities in another.

Soultide
The first story is about a resurgence of an old curse that scourged the land, known as Phage. The original Phage was a result of Udus(Gaia equivalent, soul of the world) trying to bring about the end of an ancient conflict and it has mysteriously appeared again for unknown reasons. The story is from the first-person perspective of a 10-year-old girl, Makal, accompanied by her brother Soren(who does not have his own perspective on the story except that which Makal interprets). The story itself is meant to be a more personally intensive story. Their(Soren and Makal's) goal is to try and find Udus to bring back their mother who has been consumed by Phage darklings (and herself turned into one), but only because of ancient lore saying that those who die at the hands of Udus become one with her. Upon the initial conflict where the townsfolk are attacked by darklings, Makal is actually infected and gains positive and negative effects from the darklings mysterious magical strength and abilities, which allows both siblings the opportunity to make use of this situation while drawing on some obvious negative aspects.
Pumpkin Patch Kids
The second story is my ambitious one, which actually follows three protagonists, and is more of an adventure than the previous one. It follows three friends in a first person perspective, and only so because their storylines are so wildly different that I feel it is justified. There's Erum, the honest and faithful friend who, while sometimes making some dumb choices, acts for his friends and what he believes to be best for others in general. Jayce, Erum's younger and best friend, who looks up to Erum in envy and sort of has an inferiority complex he longs to overcome. And then there's Siri, only a year old than Erum, a friend to Erum, interested in Erum, and a love interest to Jayce (yes, the triangle is complete). The main antagonist in this story initially is Dimitrius, an evil pirate king who is overtaking the land. A basic rundown of the story perhaps? Okay.
Erum: He finds an ancient library of knowledge in which he learns how to spawn weaponry(think Keyblade wielder). Teach this to Siri and Jayce. He goes and defeats Dimitrius and send him into serving as part of a chain gang and starts to help rebuild Nightmare Isles and surrounding kingdoms.
Jayce: Complex goes further and he finds the Eye of Solace, an artifact that gives you considerable will to grow in strength while having a hunger for more. Hes a friggin Sith. He finds Dimitrius, employs him and his pirate kingdom and begins a reform of his image of a perfect world, all the while challenging Erum and his ideas politically. Jayce is essentially a false prophet and everyone eats that shit up.
Siri: While Siri hasn't been doing much but aiding Erum, she decides to set off to talk reason into Jayce. Jayce doesn't budge. He's a jealous asshole. Dimitrius locks her in a magic bottle that actually operates in a faster timeline compared to the universe outside it, so Siri is aging like rancid milk. Jayce isn't happy about this as he still cares and loves Siri, but figures it's a nice taunt to Erum.
Erum: Goes after Jayce, tries to talk sense in him. Jayce gets pissed that Erum keeps just trying to help everybody and starts doing some major emotional projectile shit. Erum and Jayce have a showdown, Dimitrius steals the Eye of Solace from Jayce, becomes a big bad guy and Jayce is left looking confused and suffering -what the hell did I do- dumbness. Dimitrius is defeated but notnkilled by Erum, as he is my proverbial Batman, and is dealt the finishing blow by Jayce.
Siri: Siri is an older woman now and upon release is intercepted and teleported to Udus, who talks of her needing Siri to go meet a very special person from the past. No one knows where she goes, they mourn her disappearance and Erum is left feeling empty.
All of the stories:
Soultide: The first story I explained
Pumpkin Patch Kids: The second story I explained, roughly 200 years post-Soultide.
Soulcry: A sequel to Soultide, roughly twenty years after, following the chronicles of a boy saved by Makal.
Carol of the Bells: Direct sequel to Pumpkin Patch Kids, in which PPK fulfilled a prophecy said to bring about the Great Chill and the dawn of a new kingdom.
Elderans: 200 years before Soultied. Explains how space-travelling humans first discovered Udus' world, battled with the magic-wielding native species(Elderans), and a battle of magic and science ensues, causing Udus to create the first Phage and bring about peace by force. The Elderans(aside from records) become extinct as a result. Siri is transported to this timeline and learns of this conflict, and ancient magics of the Elderans. This book sets up the next book.
Arrival of Man: Two years after the events of Carol of the Bells. Erum's kingdom comes into conflict with a group of spaceships that invade Udus' planet, rescuing the first human travelers that arrived during Elderans. They do not realize the natives are descendants of those humans. Conflict is started and they are exact in their efforts, as ruthless as the original humans that settled and only care about their objective and have no regards. Erum takes the lead on this conflict, while Siri informs him of the past after she is found unconscious by the invaders and escapes with her badass ancient magic.")
EDIT: Left out some detail. Added them in. Thought it was essential.
