Hello fellow writers and readers,
I am thinking of starting a writing group on Slack (if I manage to figure out how it works) or Discord so that we can read each other's pieces, give feedback, encourage and hold each other to account so as to prevent writer's block from happening. We can also have a separate section where we read and discuss short stories and books by published writers and how we can incorporate some of their techniques into our own writing. Let me know if anyone would be interested in such a thing. I would like to get it started asap.
As a short introduction, I am a 30 year old unemployed bum (so you can expect me to be online a lot) who has a Master's in Creative Writing but is still unpublished (which means a write and read a lot without an end product). I primarily write literary fiction, but I am open to dabbling in other genres. Other interests include history, philosophy and soccer. (We can have dedicated channels for that too, if anyone's interested).
The idea for such a group is motivated by a purely selfish need to start and finish a few short projects that are marinating in my head, along with a long project I keep running away from. If you feel that you're in a similar bracket and could do with a kick up your butt and some fawning over when someone reads your work, comment or DM me.
Keep writing and keep reading!
