Is two one too many?
Post Body

I just posted this in r/worldbuilding hoping that that was the right place but I am feeling like this sub is a better fit! I am writing a kind of sci-fi/fantasy novel right now and I am looking for opinions on something I am starting to have some doubts about.

Do you think that one character having two companions is too many companions? I specifically mean non-human companions, they are each distinctly different from each other as well. I don't know if I'm being too vague for anyone to be able to form an opinion on it but one is an animal and one is a sort of machine. I would love to hear what people here think, is this perhaps too much? I really love the dynamic but I don't want to be excessive.
