Does it matter that much if i am tieing after i grab the ankle and not before grabbing the ankle? For ankle pick?

And if i am allowed to grab ankle without tieing but tie after, does it matter what i do with my free arm not grabbing the ankle nor tieing at that moment? Such as covering my face when i step in? (I am told i do not "have to" if i have a good set up. But why criticize having a back up plan just in case? It gives me more confidence to step in. I do not want to leave it to luck or sufficiency of a set up.)

Crossguard ankle pick to collar tie then crossguard ankle pick to seatbelt. I was doing it slow cause it is awkward to hold a dummy bag.

Don't make this thread about mma. I just want to know if it is important for my right arm to be doing something specific while left arm is grabbing ankle. (Hence, right arm should not be wasted doing something like covering face?) To that extent, this is a wrestling question.

I am gonna be practicing pure wrestling with a coach starting tomorrow specifically only ankle pick and low single for 3 months. I do not expect to master all wrestling techniques, just my favorites. My coach will be teaching standard wrestling routines though, and i am interested in outlandish outlier variations. (Like grabbing ankle without a tie while free arm is doing something "stupid", then doing the tie after.) What do you think about the free arm's role?

Edit:

I am a beginner by the way.
