Traditional vs "driving" Fireman's Carry

What's the best way to finish the fireman's? I've seen variations where they simply go to both knees, taking a step on one knee and throwing in that direction, or take another penetration step across to throw them forward.
I personally found it hard to finish the traditional fireman's as I would get sprawled on, but taking one extra step helps me finish it. Dumping them off straight down works well too.
