Useful professions ?

So I’m a pretty active player , definitely casual but I’ve had a lot of time to play lately so I’m definitely putting a lot of time in.

On my demon hunter I grabbed skinning and leather working . My leatherworking is stuck at about 70 and I can’t really see a way to level it any further or make any money from it , without grinding a crazy amount or dumping hundreds of thousands of gold into it .I also don’t see any benefit of having it since all The BoP pieces can be acquired thru work orders .

Is there really any reason/benefit at all to having a profession like leather working ?

I’d love to make my own gear and fill work orders but there seems to be almost zero constant demand for things I can make .

TLDR should I drop leatherworking for another gathering profession , or does anyone have any tips or recommendations when it comes to professions ?
